About Kashmir
Houseboats on Dal Lake, Mughal gardens, the meadows of Gulmarg and Pahalgam — Kashmir is India at its most poetic, beautiful in every season.
There is a reason the Mughal emperors called Kashmir paradise on earth. Srinagar’s Dal Lake is still crossed by painted shikaras, its cedar-wood houseboats glow at dusk, and the terraced Mughal gardens of Nishat and Shalimar step down towards the water beneath the Zabarwan hills.
Beyond the city, the valley opens into meadows of extraordinary beauty. Gulmarg’s gondola rises towards Apharwat peak — a ski slope in winter, a carpet of wildflowers in summer — while Pahalgam’s pine forests and the Lidder river lead to the valleys of Aru and Betaab. Sonamarg, the meadow of gold, is the gateway to the high Himalaya.
Each season has its own Kashmir: tulips in April, green meadows in summer, the copper fire of the chinar trees in autumn and deep snow in winter. We plan around it, with handpicked houseboats, warm hotels and experienced local drivers.
