About Kerala

Why we love Kerala

Tea-carpeted hills in Munnar, houseboats drifting through the backwaters of Alleppey and quiet beaches at Marari — Kerala is God’s Own Country, at its own gentle pace.

Best time to visit
September to March is ideal. The monsoon (June to August) is lush, quiet and the traditional season for Ayurvedic treatments.

Kerala is a green ribbon of land between the Western Ghats and the Arabian Sea, and few places in India feel as restorative. In the hills around Munnar, tea estates roll over the slopes in neat emerald rows, mist settles in the valleys and the air smells of cardamom and eucalyptus.

Down on the coast, the backwaters are a world of their own — a web of canals, lagoons and lakes where kettuvallam houseboats drift past paddy fields, village churches and coconut palms. A night on board, with fresh karimeen cooked by your own chef, is one of India’s most peaceful experiences.

Add the spice gardens of Thekkady, the colonial lanes of Fort Kochi, the beaches of Marari and Varkala, and the ancient science of Ayurveda, and Kerala becomes a journey that leaves you calmer than when you arrived.

Questions about Kerala

Anything else on your mind? Ask us on WhatsApp — a real person replies.

Is a houseboat stay comfortable?

Premium houseboats have air-conditioned bedrooms with attached bathrooms, a sun deck and a private crew including a chef. Air-conditioning typically runs from evening to morning.

How many days do we need for Kerala?

Five to six nights covers Munnar, Thekkady or Kumarakom and a houseboat in Alleppey. With a week or more, add Fort Kochi and a few days at the beach.

Can we include Ayurveda in our trip?

Yes — from a single massage to a full 7, 14 or 21-day programme at a certified Ayurveda resort, planned after a consultation with the resort’s doctor.
